Wear red. Bring your family. Bring your friends.
Stand up for Marian St.
After 13 years of closure, Ku-ring-gai Council has voted to abandon the approved Development Application for Marian St Theatre.
This follows more than 20 years of reports, studies and consultation, and over $1.7 million of public investment in planning and architectural designs.
The approved redevelopment would have created a vibrant Arts Centre with spaces for theatre, music, dance, exhibitions and community events.
Instead, Council put the arts last.
At the same time, Ku-ring-gai has 44 sports fields, 67 tennis courts, two golf courses and a $26.6 million indoor sports facility. For the arts, there is one small visual arts centre and no dedicated performing arts venue.
It’s time for ACTION.
What you can do
Council needs to see that this community has not given up.
The DA can be saved by 19 August.
Whether you performed at Marian St, watched a production, attended rehearsals, were backstage, work in the arts, or simply believe our community deserves a place for live performance, your presence will make a difference.
